Caught up in the rat race

Sometimes taking a step back, you can see a lot going on. People come and go, on roads, on the street, in the airport, at the bus station, and those sitting at any given place. People dressing casually, semi-casual, in business attire; sport shoes, sandals, slippers, high heels, boots; big handbags, small handbags, carry luggage, roller luggage, backpack, laptop bag; fair skin, tan skin, dark chocolate skin; red-head, black, blonde, brunette; we are all caught up in this rat race of the capitalist economy.

From the moment or even before we were born, especially in this era, all we hear or at least I hear is money. We are taught to achieve high grades in school, get into a university, graduate and start work. In my case of 16 years of education, it's all about achieving the highest grade possible and get a high-pay job, only then you are called successful.

Goods and services, in order to have them is by producing the 'greens'. Where to get the 'greens'? By working of course. We have caught up to have the idea of living in the fast lane. Big houses, fancy cars, latest gadgets, living in certain areas, traveling to another continent, where did we get all these ideas?

Having certain brands on our hand, on our body, dining in certain places, who gave credibility to these branding?

I'm not saying it's wrong to chase all those for the comfort of our living but the question of why?
I am too caught up in this rat race till the day I die.

but why?

Why to be rich?
Why to be famous?
Why to be rich and famous?

Dreams...

Don't we all wish to have less time spend on working and more time enjoying life?
