What you need before teaching a newbie about Facebook

I gotten this inspiration to write about this while coming back from lunch. It all started with a not so tech savvy wanted to learn about Facebook.

So what are the qualities that you need before teaching a total newbie about Facebook? This is what I got first hand.

1. You need to know your sh*t

It's not just the basic stuff. You need to know every nook and cranny of Facebook. This includes all the small, minute links that they have on the side. You will need to know the functions of all the links. It's not about how to post a status or picture. It's not about how do I tag people or accept a friend request. It's much more than that. In which I have not explore on all these features.

So just don't say 'yes' when somebody ask to help.

2. You need to have LOTS of patience

And I mean LOTS of patience. If you're good at teaching and also know your sh*t, probably you will need less patience. But in my case, my patience wears thin in teaching a newbie with no common sense. Patience is not something that comes overnight. You're either born with a good level of patience or you have to undergo a series of training to get to a certain level.

So just don't say 'yes' when somebody ask to help.

3. You need to know the level of understanding of your learner

Don't underestimate the level of a newbie with no common sense in the learning topic. It can be beyond your expectation. You will need to think that the learner has zero knowledge to start off with. From there only you can work on what's the level of understanding. It's quite a challenge to identify but that's where all the fun is isn't it.

So just don't say 'yes' when somebody ask to help.

Till then! tata~
